IN MY EYE

The photographic triptych In My Eye takes advantage of the element of the unexpected and the mechanism of the gaze to cause the viewer the feeling of unease. The work plays with the expectations of the viewer. In the first two photos the eye is hidden, while in the last one an unnatural eye is revealed that confronts the viewer head-on.

The eyes are only a fraction of the whole human body, yet they can accurately convey the feelings of their possessor. In this case, however, the double iris stands as an obstacle to the viewer's need to "read" the intentions of the person in the photograph, resulting in them perceiving the face as a threat.
